<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Going through old blog posts I <span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">realised I haven't posted any straight forward jewellery pictures for ages so thought I better rectify this. My pendant design developed last year when I got hold of some square wire and I <span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">saw what beautiful designs I could make with it, currently preferring it over the round wire. I have since made a range of pendants using <span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">the same general idea. The top one is my first design using the square wire and I do love it. As you can see it's similar to my necklace design for Reading Arts Week but with the different wire shape<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">. Be<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">cause I am so slow with taking pictures and writing product descriptions I'<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">ve only just posted this on Etsy<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">This second pendant was a custom design for a friend. She had this beautiful carved Lapis Lazuli which was just lying about and wanted me to make it into jewellery so it could be seen more and she had seen my other Lapis pendant and liked the design, however wanted something slightly different and a pendant rather than necklace. She left the design completely up to me and was very happy with the result. I must admit I love the carved Lapis and wish I could get my hands on some to use in my jewellery pieces.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I've since also made the pendant I posted previously for my Step daughter as well as a more delicate pendant using two smaller gemstones (Carnelian & Lapis Lazuli) with a more simple design on the actual setting. Trying to catch up with listings this one recently also got added to my Etsy

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I am currently working on another one, this time with a large Rose Quartz (same sort of stone size as the Sodalite) but having an issue with the setting which I just need to rectify to finish it off. Planning to do so this Easter break, maybe if I have the time, starting today. Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-59146412757442192132017-01-17T13:17:00.000+00:002017-01-17T13:17:27.151+00:00Birthday Present<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Last year one of my step daughters asked for me to make her a piece of jewellery for her birthday. So I made her a Sterling Silver & Sodalite pendant with a pair of Lapis Lazuli earrings. I didn't have much time to finish it so wasn't able to take any pictures before giving it to her but my youngest step daughter (who I mentioned is an awesome photographer) took this and sent it to me.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Isn't the pattern in the stone amazing?! It's a piece of art all in itself, which is why I love gemstones so much.

Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-41763604970103475632017-01-08T14:00:00.000+00:002017-01-08T14:00:16.175+00:00New year new...me?<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Firstly
Happy New Year to everyone out there :) I hope the new year will be
better than the last (or as good if you had a great 2016).

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">I
don't believe in New Year's resolutions so haven't made any of those,
however I have signed up for the 100 Day goal again. I realised that I
never mentioned if I reached it last time, which I sort of did (I
reached it a couple of days after the official 100 days had past but did
indeed reach it). This time I have decided to work on my marketing
skills as I am aware it's by far my weakest skill (read nonexistent).
One issue is that the goal is supposed to be quantifiable (i.e I will
sell this much or approach these many, or book these many etc) and I
can't think of a way to make me improving my marketing skill
quantifiable?
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">
As a first step I have booked onto a Start Up show
in London on Saturday which looks really interesting and is only £10.
Some of the speakers cover marketing which is perfect. I must admit that
I am quite excited.

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Another
update is that I have in fact moved and am currently renting a house
with a friend at least until October this year. This place also has some
attic space which I am using as a workroom and as I am finally back to
working part time I am hoping this finally means I can focus on my
jewellery.

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">So
in answer to my title, definitely a new year but still the same old me,
however currently maybe a bit less stressed than I was previously. Lets
hope it stays that way!Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-85469167745677139432016-04-01T12:05:00.000+01:002016-04-01T12:05:12.425+01:00Copper is kind of amazing<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I think one of
the reasons I use copper other than for the colour is because it reminds
me of home. It was used in a lot of older jewellery and the region I
grew up in was named copper mountain (thought they recently changed
the name) due to the fact that there was indeed a big copper mountain in
the middle of the whole area (which I've <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">obviously been down in), and which until quite recently was in production.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">When I studied silversmithing we were given homework to look things up and write about them in the book which we then handed in to be marked. One "essay" was about the different materials we used (though I can't remember if I got told to write about that or just decided to) and whilst looking them up online I found out that copper is kind of amazing. I do mention this from time to time in conversations and each time everyone seems surprised so thought that maybe I should write a blog post about it and spread just how good it is.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
You've probably seen that there are loads of copper pipes and wires everywhere and probably thought it's because it's a cheap material or easy to get hold of, however turns out it's also a good electricity and thermal conductor, and very resistant against corrosion with a melting point of 1083 Celsius, so that is kind of great.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It's also essential to humans as we have it in our bodies<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">, not a huge amount but what's there is vital to our well-being, which is likely why a lot of jewellery is aimed at people who have any illness affecting their blood or joints, however I'm not saying that it does (or doesn't) work for those sort of ailments as I've not had proof either for or against and am yet to make an <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">opinion.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">However neither of those facts are the reason that I think it's amazing but rather it's antibacterial properties. Let's say you touch a handle someone with, for example the flu, touched earlier, chances are the virus is still active and it's now on you. However if the handle is made of copper depending on what said germ/virus/fungi is, and how recently the person touched it (lets face it, if straight after it wont help) you should be fine.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I won't go through them all but just mention some of the more serious stuff:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Copper has been shown to knock out 99,9 % of E.coli within 60 if the room is at room temp to 270 minutes if it's cold, whilst on stainless steel E.coli can live for weeks. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It also works against, <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Legionella and tests even shows that it appears to knock out MRSA within 2 hours.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">How efficient it is depends on how high the copper contents is, the higher the contents the quicker it works and more successful it is, which if you think about it<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> makes sense. Now you have to admit that's bloody brilliant! And raises the question which it's not used more in public spaces?
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Silver and brass has also shown to work in different extents on different germs and viruses but not as well as copper. Now I'm not telling you to go out and get your work benches swapped over to copper or anything I just think it's kind of great and wanted to spread the knowledge (because sometimes I geek out about weird stuff) :)

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">When I did the 100 day goal last year I asked the group for feedback on the photos on my Etsy page. I love doing my pictures with nature backgrounds but seeing most jewellery is photographed against a white background was worried that whilst I thought it suited it might not be seen that way by others. Luckily the generally consensus was that people really liked the backgrounds (thought I was told to be careful not to use colours which overpowered the pieces). I did however also get some other fab feedback from a buyers point of view asking that I included a picture of the piece in the box it will arrive in and one of it being worn so they can imagine what it will look like. I've therefore enlisted one of my beautiful stepdaughters as my model and keep making her model my jewellery whenever she happens to come home to visit (which sadly isn't so often) and obviousl<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">y if the weather allows (which also isn't <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">very often).

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I even got a couple <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">done whilst in Sweden (thought I for some reason didn't bring all my pieces with me, which I blame the stress beforehand for).

I think she got feed up fairly quickly when we did it in Sweden, after all there are more fun things to do than to stand around taking pictures of jewellery in the snow.

Well, sort of :)<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Sorry for going quiet (yet again) but life decided to do a number on me (doesn't it always) so blogging fell completely to the wayside, and in some parts my jewellery has also had to pay the price.

I did do some Christmas markets but then ended up with some house issues (where I rent changed owners) and ended up having to not do more markets and then it was home to Sweden for Christmas and New Years which was lovely, but horrible timing.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Original house issue was a big increase in rent which due to my storage also increasing in price meant I had to take on more hours at work from January (working full time which haven't left much time for jewellery making) and get rid of my storage. <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To start it was just due to be until end of March however now it looks like the new owner is planning to throw us all out (I rent a room in a house) so I will need to find a new place to rent<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">. Therefore when asked if I could go up to 8 hours 4 days a week from April until August I (after endless hours of thinking, fretting and discussing with my partner) said yes.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
Due to finishing the work I originally did overtime for and Easter coming up I will get a couple of extra days off before I start the extra time again in April so besides the bits I have to do (hang out with family) I am looking forward on catching up on all things jewellery related. Thought there will likely also be a lot of house viewing which does dampen my enthusiasm slightly.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
I was very stressed about it all especially as it's really hard to rent an unfurnished room in this area, but am now feeling a lot more chilled out about the whole thing. I think in part due to my partner who is being very supportive and my wonderful work colleagues who all make me feel that things will be OK (and in fact could be far worse)<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> and the rest is likely just due to not being able to be that worried about something for <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">so long without <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">having a <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">nervous breakdown, hence my brain <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">has just gone <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">'th<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">at's enough<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">'. I will try to <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">update once I got a new place
It's been a couple of paid months now on my reduced working hours and I must admit it's hard, however I am still managing. To help get me focused I have just signed up for the 100 day goal which is being arranged by the Business Bakery and I must admit I'm finding it great so far (only on the fourth day) http://www.thebusinessbakery.com.au/the-100-day-goal-were-doing-it-again/
I'm currently trying to get some Christmas Markets booked and so far got one confirmed but will share details about that closer to the date.
I'm trying really hard to not complain as we don't really get enough sun and it's nice to have some, but when you are as pale as me and suffer from RA, extreme heat is not your friend. Reason I've been busy is because I only came back from Sweden on Sunday and due to having a late flight and Sunday buses being few and far in between I wasn't in bed until around 1am and then had to be at work in the morning. Following that I have been (and am until tomorrow afternoon) in the Reading Arts week exhibition (as mentioned previously) and had the preview to go to Monday evening. Since then I've worked and prepared for Sundays workshop as well as volunteering for one day (Thursday) at the exhibition. Together with seeing family and catching up with friends. In fact I've only just sat down for the evening and I just (well likely 20 min from now as not yet posted this) taken a cake out of the oven which I've baked for tomorrows skill share day. So all in all it's been a good kind of busy. Extra so as I've spent a fair amount of the time on jewellery based things.
I didn't bring a camera to the preview on Monday but popped in to rearrange my pieces on Wednesday so took the chance to take a bunch of pictures of the art being shown which I thought I'd post.
During Reading Art week there is a range of events being planned by different organisations across town. One of these is a Skill share day on at The Rising Sun Arts Centre the 5 July. The day will be full of different workshops and any proceeds will go to support the centre. If you are anywhere near I really recommend you go as the day should be a lot of fun and each individual workshop doesn't cost a lot (some are even free). I am running a bracelet making workshop between 12-14 (which only cost £5) but am definitely planning to try some of the other ones out myself.

I've applied and found out last week that I got in!
Must admit that I am very exited. If around do come and check it out, the event will run across Reading, with the Arts Week Exhibition being held at The 3B's in the Town Hall, Blagrave Street, Reading.

These are the pieces I will be showing:
To start with the temp job I started in January which was as a HR Administrator at University of Reading has just turned into a permanent part time job, giving me more time to work on my jewellery. The new shift pattern has only just started so I don't yet know if I can live on the decrease in income but at least I am giving my jewellery a fair shot as I decided I would do this year. The job itself is nice and the team I work with is great so I really hope it will all work out.

Currently I am home in Sweden celebrating Midsummer and trying to get a new jewellery display together to use when selling. My idea is to make it look a bit Scandinavian to show where the inspiration comes from. However finding cloths that are appropriate is harder than I thought. I am also trying to work more on getting myself out there as I've made a lot of new pieces lately but not worked on selling them or anything so guess I need to move onto that. Being home gives me some time to look at stuff like that (and writing blog posts) so guess that's a good thing :)

To end the post here are some pictures I've taken from down by the river where my parents live and from the midsummer celebrations we had.
am as briefly mentioned in Sweden for the holidays. Christmas is done and
dusted and is being followed by Birthday celebrations (not mine) and will then,
I assume, flow into New Year’s celebrations next week. However whilst I am a
huge fan of Christmas the New Year generally gets ushered in by watching TV,
especially when I’m out here in the middle of nowhere with my boyfriend and
parents. I’m not complaining as I honestly prefer it that way and I don’t think
New Years is a big thing.
As for updates on day to day life I finished work on the 5 Dec and I got 4 day
a week temp job starting on the 6 Jan which was confirmed whilst I was in
Sweden (nice Christmas present) which means I’ll at least get some time to work
on my jewellery on the side. That is part of the final plan I decided on, to
find a part time job (however preferably 3 days a week) and try to make
something of my dreams. It will be very hard to cut down on my income like that
but if I don’t try this now I never will and I feel I would regret not trying
far more than I would trying and failing. I plan to give it a year to find out if its
viable or not, thou I’m guessing it will take more than that to actually make
any profit but hoping I should know by then if its likely to work or not.

But the main reason for this blog post is that I wanted to share a picture of
the present I made for my dad. My granddad was very handy and used to make all
sorts of pretty things. One of my favorites is rocking chairs he made from beer
cans so that’s what I wanted to make. However I realised when starting that a: beer
cans used to be wider, b: the metal used to be thicker and finally c: the
bottom used to be flat but is now domed. The thing causing the biggest issue
was b: the metal used to be thicker, as it made the chair flimsier. So whilst I
am relatively proud of the outcome I do wish I had some old cans to work with.
I am therefore putting the query out there for good shop names. Any ideas?
Thinking something along the lines of mythology, fairy tales or second chances. The first two as its my inspiration for making jewellery and the third as this is my second chance when it comes to jewellery making :) Will likely stretch to fandoms if its one I'm passionate about and the name makes sense. Any ideas are welcome

Here are some I tried already:

1: I got an FB page now :) Its called Lina's Silver Linings but I wont post a link as I've not yet set the name in stone (so not decided on the actual page address).
2: I've applied for one Christmas market and am about to apply for one more. If any are confirmed I will obviously post about it *fingers crossed*
3: I'm looking at returning to Etsy but am cancelling my old account and starting a new one (it felt like a good idea considering my RA hiatus and all).

In other news I've finally been given notice at work (the whole team, not just me) :( so need to decided what on Earth I'm doing next. Hiding in bed and pulling the duvet over my head sadly doesn't seem like an option. I'm hoping this turns out to be a good thing but currently it doesn't really feel likely. Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-65600755273235619172014-09-22T10:22:00.002+01:002014-09-22T10:22:58.645+01:00Christmas is comingMy making has been plodding on, albeit slowly, and I was thinking it would be nice to do some Christmas markets in the area this year. They would need to be before the 18 Dec thou as I am planning to go home this year for Christmas. I am really looking forwards to that but seeing we got told about work just after I booked the tickets the timing isn't the best.
Anyways, so far I've only found one market which I've tried to sign up for (still waiting for confirmation). Appears I no longer have a clue where to find upcoming art markets which is both sad any annoying. Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-3456354780896452482014-09-14T22:12:00.001+01:002014-09-14T22:12:24.268+01:00Shop name, any suggestions? So I've been thinking more about this whole changing name on Etsy thing, and the more I consider it the more it sounds like a good idea.
I'm not the person I was when I opened the first one and looking at it makes me sad because it was dead for so long. A bit how I stopped wearing my jewellery when I got sick because it reminded me of something I was no longer able to do.
However this now opens a new question - what should I call it?
I could go simple and call it Lina's jewellery or just Lina's. Or as I've been thinking abut changing my surname - Lina Larsdotter. Or I could go with something completely different like - Second chances, 'Where dreams are made, Jewellery & fairytales, Hopes & wishes, (To)Bright futures, Better days or something like that, to hint at things getting better. And also because its more me.
But I don't know, its a hard decision to make and input would be nice :)
Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-87245056678977546652014-08-25T10:46:00.001+01:002014-08-25T10:47:50.292+01:00Etsy, here I come? Today is a Bank Holiday in the UK and
it’s a grey and wet day here with the rain pouring down. Also it’s gotten cold
and turns out my heater has died :( (hoping its just a fuse or something, not
that I have a clue how to check), so I'm sitting inside at my computer in a
thick jumper and woolly socks where I have ventured into the world of Etsy once
again. As it’s been so many years since I used it I am reading up on how to
sell on Etsy and wondering if I am able to change the shop name as it doesn't
seem to fit me anymore. To much have happened in-between and I feel like my
shop name should somehow reflect that.
It feels surprisingly daunting to be looking
at Etsy, I mean I never figured out how to make it on there in the first place
(not that I spent a lot of effort trying) and used it more to show my stuff whilst selling elsewhere. Trying to make a go
of it I am worried I once again won’t be able to figure it out but also because
it will be the first place I try since having had an involuntary break and
trying to sell anywhere just feels <span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">excruciatingly hard.

just not as much.

I am aware that since 2010 I've made 2 post on here and one of those was very depressing (true but depressing). Which likely also means not many will be reading this (as you'd probably thought I was gone and deleted me, which I completely get), but it still feels nice to write it. And this one is hopefully a bit more upbeat :)

Since my last post I've done a bit of jewellery, not a lot but at least some. My RA is going up and down but my fingers seems to be faring fairly well (knees, wrists and ankles are the main issue these days but still a lot better). I had as I was worried forgotten a lot of what I learned so not as smooth as I used to be but hoping it will come back as I go on. Also life & work has been taking up a lot of my time (I'm a <strike>bit of a</strike> workaholic) so the jewellery making has fallen to the wayside a lot due to that, which is bad but at least I'm honest. However it looks like my team might not have a job soon which is making me think about the stuff I want to do outside of work which I've been neglecting, and obviously making jewellery is a big one of those.

On the jewellery and family front I've found out that as well as my travelling great grandfather KnivKalle (text in Swedish) who I've known of all my life, I also have a closer (and alive) relative, an Uncle who makes a living out of making jewellery together with his missus. The are both exceptionally good and incredibly lovely and I'm very happy I've gotten to met them :) As a jewellery maker without close friends that make jewellery its nice to have someone to talk to and they are very supportive. Also I guess this means Jewellery making really does run in the family...

Anyway, my current plan is to give jewellery making a go again as I haven't tried to sell any of the pieces I've made since I got sick but just been giving them to friends. I don't have anything I've made recently to show but I do have some bits I'm working on to show I'm not lying.

I'll try to stick to it whilst I can (hopefully for years to come) and not get too frustrated when I fail and also figure out where to try and sell (start with Etsy I think). And I shall attempt to update my blog more than twice a year, thou I know even twice a year would be an improvement :)Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-23751499770358821702013-11-18T11:19:00.003+00:002014-08-14T14:46:57.655+01:00I finally...
Made some jewellery yesterday. Now I know that doesn't sound very impressive but it really is. Its been far to long, I think a part of me worried I couldn't and then the rest got drowned in all my must dos rather than my want to dos.
It was nothing over impressive but it was by all means a start especially as I was starting to worry I never would make something again.
Now I just need to make sure I keep making some time once in a while even if its just a random hour here or there. Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-20440701313520176612012-05-13T12:12:00.002+01:002012-05-13T12:12:54.896+01:00So here I am...I feel the need by starting this post by saying I'm sorry for not writing for so long.
But thinking about it I should really follow that up with the clarification that it's not really my fault.
Reason for not writing anything is I haven't made anything
And the reason for not making anything is I haven't been able to,which in turns has made me too sad and bitter to even look at anything relating to jewellery.

So what happened you ask? Well if you read my other blog you probably already know the answer to that one (or look at my little profile ditty which changed), I've been sick and still am, and sadly will be for the rest of my life however long or short that might be.
I got Rheumatoid Arthritis which was viciously attacking my fingers (and pretty much all other joints). I am on medication thought (and a lot of it) which is kind of working and my fingers are back to normal (most of the time) and have been for awhile now, but I still haven't made any jewellery.
Now when asked I have a bunch of excuses for why I haven't been making any jewellery but that's all they are - excuses.
I know the actual reason and it sounds so silly I don't want to say it out loud, but the truth is I haven't been making any jewellery because I am scared. I'm scared that I wont be any good because it's been so long I can't remember half the things I've learn, and I'm even more scared that my hands might not been as good as I think and will start aching when I try to do the little details or twist the wire, because I do still have bad days when they get all swollen and achy. And I'm also scared that everything will go fine for a short while and then my hands will get worse again and I'll have to stop, and I think that might just break my heart.

But I don't say that out loud and the people that reads this aren't the people that I ever see, because I know what they would thing and say. They would tell me I'm silly and that I have to try, all whilst looking at me like I'm speaking a foreign language because they don't get how scared I actually am, and they don't get that I know it's silly and that I need to at least try.
So I will try, soon, because the other options might just be worse then the bad things that might happen if I do.
And when I do I'll let you all know, even if it's only something small. The most annoying thing was the fact that since I've taken the day off this week to attend I can't then take another day off in a week or two for when they reschedule it, and it was too late to cancel the holiday. But except for the fact that I will now miss the other meeting it's not that bad. I had already planned to do some work for the craft event I'm planning after the meeting so now I've just decided I will spend the whole day working on that instead.

So today I am planning on making posters to see if I can find more people to take part, and then work on the design for the flyer's using the pictures I got from the people saying yes so far (come on people, more pictures!).
So far I got some brilliant Jewellers (me included), one that's confirmed she's taking part is the lovely Monika who does both paintings and jewellery. Also the wonderful Angela (who sadly doesn't have a web page).
And then it's the amazing Soobird who sells handmade hats (me wants) and fascinators.
I also have another 2 jewellers and a painter who are still making up their minds.
I believe this means my quota of Jewellery designers are well and truly filled!
I would really like to get someone that does knitting involved because I believe they would do well at a Christmas craft fair, if my sister Karin didn't live so far away (Sweden) I would ask her.

But I was given a great idea by Soobird on how to find some amazing artists and crafters in Reading so I will start with that today and see if I can find someone how knits and I'd also really like someone who sows (like little dolls and/or bags etc). Someone making cards and prints would also be good...

On a different note I now have a working torch! Yeah! Still getting used to it though since I've had mine for years so suddenly feeling very cranky about having to use a new one, and I appear incapable of figuring out the heat settings ("well mine didn't work like that" etc). Thou I did use it to make a really nice Lapis Lazuli bracelet at the weekend :-) At the moment I am trying to make up a load of stock so I can send it off to get hallmarked and back in time for the craft fair.

Anyways time to get to work!Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-19379571889704369392010-09-12T08:28:00.000+01:002010-09-12T08:29:03.228+01:00Christmas Craft Fair
Christmas Craft Fair!

Applications being taken!
Artist and crafters needed for a Christmas fair above the Global Café in Reading on the 27th Of November.
If you are interested please email Lina at:lina@linaj.co.uk
Price £20 for a full table with the possibility (depending on interest) for half a table for £10.

Only rule is that what you want to sell have to be made by you!
Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4479168692242037458.post-68797905489723775892010-09-03T23:33:00.000+01:002010-09-03T23:34:36.394+01:00The weekend is here :-)......But I still don't have a working torch :-(Linahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17025947111553169540noreply@blogger.com0
